Côme Ranjard builds his music like a house. Every nook and cranny resembles him, and tells us more about his strange inhabitant. Sound and language are his cherished materials for tinkering with his songs. His neighbors include Philippe Katerine, Bertrand Belin, Steely Dan, Louis Chedid, Hayao Miyazaki, Caetano Veloso and Haruomi Hosono. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, Côme settled in this musical hotbed with a strange attraction for immersive, jazzy pop, featuring brass, woodwinds, synthesizers and Hawaiian lap steel. From the moment you open the door, you're struck by his deep voice and the richness of his lyrics. Through the window, the instruments enter and leave freely, as if borrowing from fantasized universes to speak of humans and the city. Music is a journey, and Côme's is a quest. After the superb reception of an initial single (playlisted on FIP, reviewed in Les Inrocks, Magic RPM, Janis Media, Rolling Stone), Côme Ranjard is currently preparing his first album, to be released on the Vietnam label at the end of 2024 (Wagram/Labréa distribution).
